I’m a bit surprised everyone is just accepting that it’s actually him. I mean he does get around so it wouldn’t be surprising but anyone can fake an account.

Also I don’t really get your initial criticism. Are you saying that he should of been as in depth with the other two cars?

When you say “they” are listening, I feel like it’s important to highlight that the “they” in question are folks who already were listeners. Some of the new TG crew are obviously legit, ground up automotive journalists and it’s hard to be one of those these days without at least one ear to the ground and a finger on the pulse.

Still, I’m half holding out for this not to be Rory and for it just to be one more epic trolling.

It was a statement made in reaction, and in a reactionary fashion, to the suggestion that new, new Top Gear had finally delivered what the fans want which I didn’t exactly agree with... though I may have gone a bit too far.

I don’t think there was any sarcasm there at all. I can hear the “Oh really?”, and then there’s “Really?” and then the “Huh.” in his internal dialogue. He was probably thinking “Were we that bad?” and then passed it on to the staff and crew as a sort of “Guys, here’s why we have to do better.” It’s not really a calling-out so much as it is an acknowledgement that people watched this and found it awful and sub-par.

I’ve experienced that, too. I was part of this student radio troupe that was preparing for a nationwide competition, and on the road to that contest, there is a district contest. We won that, but the judges (and what little audience was there) found the whole radio show we made to be “the best among the worst”. We took that to heart and then we swept the regional competition a few months after, on to 4th in the nationals. It hurts to hear blunt criticism, but you do need it.

Jesus reading some of these comments is like listening to the part of the hen night when they are all sad drunk- man up. How hard is it to know cars? Not very that doesn’t make you a car guy.
